International Peace NGO, Heavenly Culture World Peace Restoration of Light(HWPL) under the theme of ‘The New Normal: Transformation and Adaptation after COVID-19 has proposed respect for human rights, peaceful and safe Africa, and directions to create Africa led by women and young people based on Agenda 2063.
Under the shared idea that the current pandemic increases inequality and conflict in many societies, the seminar addressed the efforts at the national level to maintain global order amid changes and innovations in COVID-19 and the role of stakeholders including women and youth, lawyers, NGOs, and the media.
The seminar followed by a presentation on the human rights of East Africa in the current era, and the presentation included a detailed introduction to the core values of the DPCW that HWPL alone has.
Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) proclaimed on March 14, 2016 by a UN-affiliated NGO HWPL embodies the principles and measures for preventing and resolving conflicts and sustaining a peaceful global society through the international law and cooperation.
As a presenter, Leona Foundation, Executive Director, Patrick Munene who addressed participants observed that, increase in teenage pregnancies, Loss of livelihoods on workers, curtailed freedom of movement and association, mental health problem due to changes in society caused by COVID-19 are some of the observed vices.
Lubao FMs Director of Operations, Charles Oduor, who presented on behalf of the media, stated that Africa, Journalists, media and the organizations feeding the media have ethical and moral accountability to promote human rights and create awareness in public about threats to their freedom and security.
HWPL is taking the lead in peace and respect for human rights in Africa and other parts of the world. In addition to the DPCW, various methods are accepted to realize peace, such as signing an MOU for peace education with schools, opening interfaith dialogue based on the scriptures for religious harmony, and holding a peace walk.
