The County government of Busia has today finalized plans to construct two modern dairy parks, one in Teso South and one in Butula Sub county.
The Chief Officer of Agriculture Eng. Richard Achiambo pointed out that Agriculture is a top priority for the county government and the construction of the two modern dairy parks is a step towards the right direction.
The Teso South facility will cost 9.9 million shillings while the Butula dairy park will cost 10.4 million shillings. The Dairy Parks will be constructed within the next six months with a ground breaking event expected to take place soon.
The Director of Livestock and Animal resources Mr. David Mukabane requested the contractors to use make locally available resources as a way to benefit the local community.
The project will be supervised by the County department of Public works and will comprise of a modern dairy shed, a milking area fitted with modern milking machine, a storage unit and an office block.
Upon completion, the dairy parks will be managed by the county government on behalf of the locals.
