County Officials in Vihiga county, in collaboration with Chiefs and their Assistants, have launched an initiative to ensure that every student has access to education. According to Geoffrey Ng’eno, the Deputy County Commissioner manning Luanda sub county, they are facing challenges in achieving this goal due to the lack of coordination between school administrators and Chiefs and their Assistants.

Speaking during a meeting with residents of the district, Ng’eno appealed to school administrators to involve Chiefs and their Assistants in their planning to enable many students access education. “We are faced with challenges in ensuring that every student gets education because school administrators are not involving Chiefs and their Assistants in their plans,” he said.

Richard Kutai, a security officer in the sub county, endorsed Ng’eno’s sentiments, urging parents to collaborate with the government to ensure that every child has access to education. He also used the opportunity to appeal to parents not to involve their children in the sale of contraband goods, especially in the Luanda market.

Kutai emphasized that children with disabilities also have the right to education, as the district has many schools that cater to their needs.
