Internally displaced persons living in Bungoma County, Kenya, have been warned against fraudulent registration by authorities. According to reports, several groups have emerged claiming that they are seeking registration with the government to access funds.
Speaking at Kapsokwony Shem Bonya, a representative of the displaced persons said that there are special measures in place to ensure that the public is aware and avoids being defrauded by scammers.
On this matter, Samson Cheshari, Chairman of Nomorio area, has expressed support for the initiative.
Reports from Mt. Elgon shows that more than four groups have emerged with claims of seeking registration with the government. The affected individuals are being asked to pay various fees and are being left without assistance.
The government is therefore urged to take measures to address these issues and provide fair treatment to internally displaced persons living in Kenya.
