Residents of the Chesikaki Ward in Mount Elgon constituency have been urged to work closely with elected officials and not to accept political separation, especially at a time when the nation is preparing for the next general election.

Addressing a funeral ceremony in the Tuikut village, Chesikaki ward representative Ben Kipkut called on the people, especially politicians, to preach peace as they run their politics, saying it was the only way to achieve a sustainable development agenda for residents.

At the same time Kipkut has indicated that he is making every effort to find a lasting solution to the water scarcity challenge in the area aside from finalizing development projects ahead of the next general election.

Mount Elgon legislator, Fred Chesebe Kapondi also questioned whether he would further strengthen the school infrastructure and suggest that the contractor building the road from Kikai to Kopsiro has already resigned.
