Shikusa Primary G.K’s Headteacher, David Ligwilu, extends heartfelt gratitude to Her Excellency the First Lady of Kenya, Rachel Ruto, and the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) of Shinyalu Constituency for their instrumental role in transforming the school’s infrastructure. The new modern classrooms and pit latrines have created a conducive learning environment, allowing students to focus on their academic and extracurricular pursuits.
Speaking at Shikusa Primary G.K in Shinyalu Constituency, Kakamega County, Mr. Ligwilu praised the First Lady and the NG-CDF for their visionary leadership and commitment to improving education in rural areas. He noted that the school’s holistic development has not only enhanced academic performance but also fostered a vibrant co-curricular program, with students competing at the national level in sports such as handball and football.
Mr. Ligwilu expressed optimism that the school’s teams will continue to excel, representing the Western region in upcoming national tournaments. He also emphasized the need for additional teachers, particularly in technical subjects, to support junior school students.
The headteacher also took the opportunity to acknowledge the efforts of Mama Elsie Muhanda, the Woman Representative for Kakamega County, who has provided a water harvesting tank and sanitary towels to the school. These initiatives have significantly improved student attendance and overall well-being.
Mr. Ligwilu’s sentiments highlight the positive impact that collaborative efforts between government agencies, community leaders, and educational institutions can have on improving education outcomes and creating a brighter future for rural students.
