African Champion Ferdinand Omanyala is now in a race against time to arrive in Oregon for the World Athletics Championships after being granted a last-minute visa to travel on Thursday.

Omanyala, the fastest man in Africa, is set to leave the country on Thursday at 6pm and will be hoping to arrive in Eugene, Oregon in time for Friday’s 100m heats. As one of the top ranked athletes in the 100m, Omanyala will not be subjected to the preliminaries.

Kenya Secondary School Sports Association

Barely three weeks after the government started partial resumption of co-curricular activities in primary and secondary schools, ministry of education Wednesday announced full commencement of sporting activities at the two levels. According to a letter from ministry of education that was copied to all regional, county and sub-county education directors, second term games will be held in September. The ministry of education on Wednesday released a calendar for Kenya secondary schools term two games co-curricular activities for basic education institutions.

The term two games feature football, volleyball, netball, basketball, hockey, handball, rugby, swimming and racquet games.

The calendar features both primary and secondary school games as well as those of special needs education (SNE) ball games, Kenya music festivals and federation of East Africa school’s sports association championships (FEASSSC).

The national secondary school’s games have been planned for September 8-13 in Nakuru county while Machakos county will stage national primary school games on September 8-13.

SNE primary school ball games will be staged at hill school primary in Uasin Gishu county on September 8-12 while SNE secondary games will be staged at the same venue on the same dates.

Ingo 7s Fixtures and Pools

The curtains fall on the 2022 National Sevens Circuit when the sixth and final round, the Kakamega 7s takes place at The Bullring on 16 and 17 July.

Current circuit leaders Menengai Oilers, fresh from winning the Prinsloo 7s last weekend in Nakuru are seeded first in Kakamega and play out of Pool A alongside Masinde Muliro, Nondescripts and Vihiga Granites.

Strathmore Leos, losing finalists last weekend in Nakuru, headline Pool B and will face Mwamba, Catholic Monks and Kisumu.

Homeboyz are top seeds in Pool C where they will face opposition from Kenya Harlequin, hosts Western Bulls and Nakuru while reigning circuit champions KCB have to contend with Kabras Sugar, Impala and Daystar Falcons in Pool D.
