Manda Shivanga MCA, David Kivishi, has emphasized his commitment to nurturing sports talents in the community to keep young people away from drug abuse and promote healthy career paths. As the sponsor of the 6th Manda Shivanga Super Cup held at Tombo grounds in Malava constituency, MCA David Kivishi underscored the importance of sports for youth development, advocating for a shift away from substance abuse and towards a career path that leverages athletic talents.
Kivishi emphasized the need for school administrators to identify and nurture the sporting abilities of students, highlighting the mutually beneficial relationship between sports and education.
In his keynote address, Farouk Kibet, a personal aide to Kenyan President William Ruto, echoed Kivish’s sentiments, encouraging young people across the nation to prioritize sports as a viable source of income. Kibet commended the talent showcased at the event and expressed confidence in the participants’ potential for success in sports, emphasizing the unity displayed through their collective efforts.

Kibet also noted the positive collaboration between the Mulembe nation and the Kalenjin people in the realm of sports, referencing the recent Chepsaita Marathon, which saw participation from individuals in Luhya land. He underscored the essential role that sports play in keeping dreams alive, highlighting the significance of nurturing athletic talent both in Kenya and on the global stage.
To support this vision, Kibet pledged to mentor young talents, allocating Ksh1.5 million to Tombo Comprehensive School for infrastructure development and committing to construct two additional classrooms to enhance educational resources. He acknowledged the critical link between education and sports, recognizing that both are vital for personal growth and overall development.
Kivishi also announced the formation of a ward team comprised of players from each polling center, training them for the upcoming Federation of Kenya Football (FKF) league games. He expressed his intent to engage with federation officials to ensure the team’s registration, demonstrating his commitment to fostering local talent.

Furthermore, Kivishi cautioned against the interference of political figures in the country’s sports arena for self-serving purposes. He reaffirmed his longstanding commitment to sponsoring sports initiatives, indicating that he would continue to support and uplift local talent for the benefit of his constituents, even after stepping away from politics.
In the matches, Mukhungula FC secured a 1-0 victory over Tombo FoxesFC, while in the women’s category, Golden Queens dominated the International Ladies with a 3-0 win.
The winner men’s football was awarded Kshs 100,000 amongst other sporting garments while the runners-up was awarded Kshs 50,000.All participating teams received match balls to ehance their training.
