Recently, members of a popular group on Facebook erupted in humourous posts about how unpleasant their portraits appeared in their national identification documents.

Some lamented how they looked like  freedom fighters according to their National ID portraits whereas others funnily enough said they couldn’t pick out whoever was in those passports or ID photos they happened to possess.

The downside of the poor quality images on such important documents was that many of the disgruntled owners opened up on how they often shied away from openly displaying them since they attracted loads of equally unpleasant trolls at identification centres locally and abroad.

The big question is why the state organs tasked with issuing identification cards and passports still issue such extremely poor quality photos in this age of time that make the holders of those important documents very insecure? We can do better as a Jamhuri.
