Four people died and several others injured in an accident that occurred at the Nzoia Bridge along the Eldoret Bungoma Highway. The Saturday morning incident involved four vehicles including a truck, private car, a double cabin pick up and a lorry ferrying ballast which ran into each other and the occupant of the vehicles were burnt beyond recognition.

A motorist identified as Shabaan, who witnessed was at the scene a few minutes after the accident, said  that he saw a double cabin pickup sandwiched between a lorry and and a fire fighting vehicle.

Bungoma East traffic boss Idris Halkaalno said the accident occurred after a truck that was heading to Uganda from Mombasa lost control. The truck then burst into flames before burning other cars around it, he said.

Webuye County hospital medical superintendent Simon Kisaka said the victims had broken limbs and severe cuts.
