The Chief of Lubao Location, Sulvei Ashiono, has called upon women to take up economic empowerment and shun societal expectations that restrict their participation in the workforce. Speaking at a gathering in Isukha North, Kakamega County, Ashiono emphasized that empowering women is crucial for the development of families from all walks of life.

Ashiono noted that women are often relegated to secondary roles in society, and as a result, they are denied opportunities to contribute meaningfully to the economy. “Women are more than just homemakers,” he said. “They have a critical role to play in the development of their families and communities.”

The Lubao Location Chief also urged women to believe in themselves and take up various economic opportunities without being limited by societal expectations. He emphasized that women’s participation in the workforce is essential for bridging the gender gap in many areas, including education, agriculture, and healthcare.

Ashiono also called upon parents to educate their daughters from a young age about their importance in society and the need to take up economic empowerment. “Parents should instill in their daughters a sense of self-worth and confidence, so that they can take up leadership roles and make meaningful contributions to society,” he said.

The Chief further emphasized the importance of women’s participation in decision-making processes, citing examples of successful female leaders who have made a significant impact in their communities. He encouraged women to join associations and organizations that support their economic empowerment and personal development.

The meeting was attended by residents from various sectors, including education, agriculture, and healthcare. The participants were briefed on the upcoming training workshop scheduled for Saturday at Lusero grounds, which will focus on providing skills training and capacity building for women.

The workshop is expected to bring together experts from various fields to share knowledge and best practices on economic empowerment, entrepreneurship, and leadership development. The event aims to equip women with the necessary skills and confidence to take up economic opportunities and make a positive impact in their communities.

In his address, Ashiono also highlighted the importance of unity among women, urging them to support one another and work together towards a common goal of economic empowerment. “We cannot achieve our goals alone,” he said. “We need to work together as sisters and support one another in our endeavors.”

The Lubao Location Chief’s impassioned plea has resonated with many residents, who are now calling for greater economic empowerment opportunities for women. The community is hopeful that the upcoming workshop will provide a platform for women to network, learn, and grow economically.
