Bodaboda operators from the Cheta area of the Mount Elgon constituency have staged a peaceful protest against what they claim is harassment by police officers who have set up a roadblock at the intersection of Namutokholo to Mabole.

The bodaboda officials argue that the purpose of the police officers from Sirisia to set up a roadblock on the namutokholo road to the mall was to enable health department officials to check the temperature levels caused by the corona virus but are now alleged to be involved in corruption cases.

They are currently proposing that the police officers be removed from the area and allow health workers to carry out their duties professionally. However, Sirisia Police Commander David Kandie has promised to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations and urged bodaboda officials to submit their complaints to his office so that concrete steps can be taken.
