Dr. Donald Keya Manyala has been approved as the new Clerk of the County Assembly of Kakamega, marking a change in leadership as he succeeds the outgoing Acting Clerk, Ms. Esther Ariko Akoth. Dr. Keya is the third individual to assume this role, following Emeritus Patrick Kamwessar and CPA Laban Atemba.

His appointment was endorsed by the County Assembly Service Board (CASB) and confirmed during a Special Sitting, where he emerged as the preferred candidate among seven other contenders. Members of the Assembly expressed their support for Dr. Keya, highlighting his qualifications and experience in governance and leadership.

With a background holding a PhD in Governance and Leadership, a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism Management from reputable institutions, Dr. Keya brings a wealth of knowledge and skills to his new position. His extensive experience in various roles, including serving as Chief Research Officer and Policy Analyst at the National Assembly of Kenya, further strengthens his ability to lead the Assembly effectively.

The appointment of Dr. Keya has been met with optimism and calls for unity and cooperation within the Assembly. The Speaker announced that the formal appointment process will be completed within seven days, in compliance with the relevant regulations.

Overall, Dr. Keya’s appointment signals a new chapter in the leadership of the County Assembly of Kakamega, with expectations for his tenure to drive progress and development within the institution.
