It was a momentous day for farmers in Kakamega County as the Cereal Growers Association (CGA), in partnership with the Farm to Market Alliance (FtMA), awarded certificates of graduation to farmers who successfully completed training under the program.
The initiative is designed to empower farmers with modern agricultural knowledge and practical skills, enabling them not only to improve their own productivity but also to train and mentor fellow farmers within their communities. This milestone marks a significant step towards strengthening farmer-led extension services and promoting sustainable agribusiness practices in the region.

The Guest of Honour, Kakamega County Executive Committee Member (CEC) for Agriculture, Hon. Morphat Mandela, graced the ceremony and commended the farmers for their dedication and resilience. He emphasized the county’s commitment to supporting agricultural development, noting that empowering farmers with knowledge and certification is key to achieving food security and economic growth.

Speaking during the event, representatives from CGA and FtMA highlighted the importance of building farmer capacity to access markets, adopt climate-smart practices, and enhance incomes. The program is expected to create ripple effects across villages, as certified farmers will now serve as trainers and role models for others.

The colorful ceremony brought together farmers, local leaders, agricultural stakeholders, and community members, all celebrating the achievements of the graduates and reaffirming the role of agriculture as the backbone of Kakamega County’s economy.
