Insecurity has become a major threat to livelihood in Lubao market that lies in two bordering sub-counties of Shinyalu and Malava. Being a cosmopolitan market due to its inhabitation of prison warders manning Shikusa Prison and employees of different sectors in kakamega town, the residents present a public outcry on increased cases of theft and burglary.
Over the weekend a total of four shops were broken into and valuables stolen while fifty chairs stolen from a local church. Besides the theft cases, the residents have complained of the laxity from the security personnel in the area. a local church pastor who sought anonymity said that since march he has reported nine cases in the Lubao Police post and none has been pardoned.
