As governments and civil society organizations continue the fight against early pregnancy among female teenagers, it has been found that male perpetrators of the act are greatly affected than their female counterparts, some of whom suffer from mental illness and even death.
According Siki Youth Association, when a boy impregnates a girl, he is overwhelmed by the thoughts of a pregnant girl which can in turn lead to suffering from a mental illness that can put him at risk if he’s does not receive counseling.
Emmah Karanja, the founder of the Youth Association that aims at addressing issues related to the youth says the issue will be solved only if society works together to remove stigma and stress among young people, to avoid the risk of developing a mental illness that could ruin their lives.
