The National School Health Programme facilitated by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health on Wednesday 14th June 2023 held the National School-Based Deworming Programme training for Shinyalu West teachers in St Augustine Lubao Primary School for schools.
The Teacher Training programme’s objectives were to enhance knowledge and skills in deworming, improve data management and timely results and enhance the quality of the National School-Based Deworming Programme.
Alice Makamu, the Curriculum Support Officer of Shinyalu West, urged all the teachers to work tirelessly to ensure that everyone present is given the deworming tablets.
The deworming programme targets School-age children of ages 6 to 14 years because they have the highest intensity of worm infection of any age group and suffer the most negative effects.
The Training Programme involved teachers of various primary schools in Shinyalu West including St Augustine Lubao Primary School, GK Borstal Institution, Gk Shikusa Primary School, Wakukha Primary school, Jabstir Academy, Handidi Primary School among others. The deworming exercise is set to take place on 21st June 2023 in the different pre-primary, primary and junior secondary schools in target areas.
