As the curtain came down, marking the end of Day 2,some teams have been already assured of a place in the semi-finals,a number have a chance to do so,while a fraction will be playing their final match for fixture purposes.In boys soccer,Pool A,Hosts and Western region champions,the Eagles of Shandarema shared spoils(1-1) with ‘The Agosa’ of Agoro Sare today in a pulsating encounter at Bukhungu stadium.Marxswell Wamalwa’s first half goal was cancelled out by a Geoffrey Omondi’s effort in the 2nd half.Both teams tie on 4 points,with the Eagles of Shandarema top of the log on goal difference.

Central’ s Kiringari,who beat Wajir based Khorof -Harar,3-0,are third on 3 points while the Later are still pointless.The north Eastern regional champions,who are out of contention,play their final match on Thursday against Agoro sare at the outer field of Kakamega high as from 11am before embarking on a 612 km journey back to Wajir-Bor.Shandarema play Kiringari as from 11am,at Bukhungu Stadium,with an eye on qualication on their mind.

In pool B,St.Antony’s Solidarity boys,who pipped Serani,2-0,Lead the group with 6 points.They tie with Nairobi’s Dagoretti on points but the later have an inferior goal differrence.Serani and Matiliku,who  have already exited the championship are pointless.St.Antony play Dagorreti on thursday as from 11am,at Mabao field,in a clash to determine the group winners.Matiliku,who lost their 2nd consecutive game against Dagoretti,0-1, have a dead rubber match against Serani as from 11am at Mukumu boys grounds.Both will be playing for pride before the former travelling back to Makueni,about 497 kms away,while the later rolls down to Kisauni,Mombasa county.

In girls soccer,Western region champions,Butere girls walloped Kombani from Coast,5-0,to take lead of group A,with 4 points,albeit on goal difference.They tie with ‘Dago queens’ of Dagoretti mixed,who beat Njambini of central region,2-1.The Red commandos of Butere were ruthless infront of goal today,with Valencia Achieng scoring a double,Atira Nechesa,Okumu Judith and Dorcas Nafula having a goal a piece.Mukasa Amboko,Kombani tactician, congratulated the victorians but blamed fatigue and injuries for his charges woeful display.Njambini,who are on 3 points have a fighting chance as they take on Coach Howard Shikanga’s girls,Butere,at Mukumu boys pitch,as from 9am.Kombani,already eliminated,will be playing for pride,against Dagoretti mixed,at Mabao pitch before returning to their matuga,Kwale base.In pool B,Madira of Western top the pool by 4 points, on goal difference,followed by Wiyeta of Riftvalley.Both teams drew,1-1,in todays’ mouth watering clash.Nyanza’s Lwak,who humbled Eastern’s Mbitini,4-1, are third on 3 points.

The Machakos based lasses are bottom of the pile with no point and will be on their way home after Thursday’s morning match against Wiyeta at the Outer field of Kakamega high school.Madira and Lwak girls square it out at Bukhungu Stadium,Thursday morning.

On the volleyball court,boys,Pool B,Riftvalley’s champions,Andersen, top the group on 6 points,after beating Nairobi’s Ruthumitu,by straight sets.The later and Central’s Tetu lie second on 3 points and  are still in contention,while Nyanza’s Onjiko are 4th with no point to write home about.On Thursday,Onjiko play Ruthimitu before travelling about 73km to their Ahero base.Andersen take on Tetu with the later needing an upset to stand a chance.In pool A,Western region’s Namwela stay top,on 6 points,after beating Vitengeni of Coast,3-1.

The later and Tumaini of Eastern are tied on 3 points and have a qualification chance.Nothing to smile about as Furaha of North Eastern are bottom with no point.The later will be taking the long trip to Wajir East,after their match against  last years’ finalist,Namwela.Vitengeni complete their last group match clashing with Tumaini.

In girls volleyball,Pool B,Kwanthanze of Eastern region,who set aside Senior Chief Ogle of North Eastern,in ruthless fashion,by straight sets,tie at the top the group on 6 points,with Nairobi’s Soweto,who beat Coast’s Vyambani,by a similar margin.The Habaswein,Wajir south, based lasses and Vyambani having no point,have already been eliminated.Kwanthanze take on Soweto,in a top of the table clash while Senior chief Ogle encounter Ganze based,Vyambani,playing for pride.In pool A,Western region Champions,Mwitoti,who beat Central’s Karima,by straight sets share top spot with Riftvalley’s Kesogon,who outclassed Nyanza’s Nyakach by a similar Margin.

The Sondu based girls and their counterparts,Karima,from Kinangop,Nyandarua are pointless and lie at the bottom of the log.The ‘invincibles’ of Mwitoti play Kesogon,in a repeat of last years Semi-final clash,in which the later prevailed.Nyakach and Karima play in the other,dead rubber match,before bidding the championship goodbye.By close of business,Thursday,it will be clear who tops various groups,who comes as runners up and who exits.Three teams per discipline,head to FEASSSA games,with an exception of Volleyball,who take 4.(fresh from Osuka Washiali’s notepad).All the best to our teams.
