The management of invest and grow has continued with its noble gesture to support learning institutions within Kakamega county.
The cooperative movement affiliated to teachers’ countrywide has donated various equipment, food stuffs and beds to Friends Kulumbeni special school in Lugari Sub County as part of it giving back to the community.
The honorable secretary in the Sacco representing teachers David Okwemba said their move to assist the school was reached after the cooperative verified the school to be more needy and operating on very meagre resources.
“As a Sacco, we have a budget that handles cooperate social responsibility (CSR) as enshrined in our six pillars that govern our operations and this (education)is just part of our giving back to the community that also supports us grow”.
Okwemba who is among the 9 directors within the constituencies that invest and grow has substantial membership from Mois bridge to Yala, said each director has a budget that caters for such activities where they scrutinize which grave areas should be uplifted.
Today marks a special occasion as we heed to the needs of this school after their plea was forwarded to us and we have brought for them beds sewing, shaving, blow-dry machines, handsaws and food stuffs all totaling to Ksh.150,000 and we shall continue to support our
institutions as they also bring on board more members to the Sacco”
The Director who is in charge of Bunyala to Moisbridge region asked the parents to make good use of the institution by enrolling their disabled pupils to the school to achieve necessary skills and knowledge for their survival.
“These pupils will soon be able to earn their own living from the skills they are going to amass from here and it is a wakeup call for all stakeholders who knows any children who are still at home to bring them on board to get the relevant training and education and as Ig Sacco we will continue to support such programmes to make the desired positive change.
The school head teacher Livingstone Akala could not hide his excitement noting that the school despite being operational, under equipped to enable the pupils who are abled differently to acquire necessary skills that will enable them be self-reliant and thanked the Sacco for
being considerate.
As a school we cannot tell how happy we are to receive these donations and we want to express our gratitude to invest and grow as they have brought life to these pupils.
At the same time he called on the parents to stop hiding their disabled children and instead enroll them at the institution to acquire necessary skills.
He assured the Sacco that they will make good use of the items donated to them and assured them of their support by board more members
The board of members chairman Justus Simiyu Washiko called on the Sacco to continue supporting the school and asked other stakeholders to follow suit to ensure that the institution prospers.
