A middle aged man from Ingavira village, Navakholo sub county died on the spot after a trailer ferrying can fell on him an action that angered residents who burnt down the tractor. According to witnesses, the tractor’s driver was over speeding and technical failures made it loose control a move that made the deceased to jump to safety and to no luck the sugar canes on the trailer fell on him.

A few minutes after police took the body of the deceased from the scene, residents who were angered by the driver’s carelessness, set the tractor on fire. The residents further asked sugar companies in the area to amend employee laws as well as have a maximum tonnage for cane trailers since most trailers are overloaded because the drivers are paid per ton an act that they claim, contributes to increased cases of accidents involve cane trailers.
