The Kakamega County Government has affirmed the positive results of the fertiliser distributed to farmers through the subsidy programme. Godfrey Owori, the County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture, made the announcement during the unveiling of the Sistema Bio-digester at Bukura Agricultural Training College in Western Kenya. According to Owori, farmers who utilized the fertiliser have reported improved crop health and performance, demonstrating the effectiveness of the subsidy programme in enhancing agricultural productivity.

During his address, Owori emphasized the importance of timely and accurate application of fertilisers for maximum crop yields. He urged farmers to follow the advice of agricultural experts regarding the appropriate timing and quantity of fertiliser application. Owori also highlighted the availability of agricultural officers who are prepared to provide guidance and support to farmers throughout Kakamega County, ensuring that they receive the necessary assistance to optimize their crop production.

In addition to providing guidance on fertiliser use, Owori encouraged farmers to consider joining cooperative societies to access financial support. By partnering with financial institutions such as the Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), farmers can benefit from assistance in marketing their agricultural products and obtaining inputs at reduced costs. This collaboration between the county government and financial institutions aims to empower farmers and improve their overall financial stability and productivity.

Furthermore, Owori stressed the importance of collaboration between farmers and local institutions to enhance the agricultural sector in Kakamega County. By leveraging the resources and expertise available through cooperative societies and financial institutions, farmers can access valuable support and resources to bolster their farming practices. This partnership model not only benefits individual farmers but also contributes to the overall growth and sustainability of the agricultural sector in the region. The County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture reiterated the commitment of the county government to supporting farmers and fostering a thriving agricultural industry in Kakamega County.
