Around 40 religious leaders from the United States, Kenya, and Cambodia gathered on April 10 for the ‘HWPL Intercontinental United Peace Prayer Gathering,’ in the aim of resolving the COVID-19 crisis and worldwide conflicts, as well as restoring peace.
Religious practitioners from many religions, such as Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, and Hinduism, shared their respective representative prayers with others during the prayer meeting. Participants prayed together with mutual respect, regardless of their religious affiliations, following the prayer instruction of the delegates.
The participants conducted a balloon performance to the ‘Song of Peace’ at the close of the prayer meeting in the hopes of peace and the end of COVID-19 and disagreements.
Pastor Charles Omollo Owidi (International Churches of Christ in Nairobi, Kenya) and Rev. Dr. Pauline Njiru (Diocese of Kirinyaga, Anglican Church of Kenya), who attended the conference, expressed their appreciation for the invitation, saying, “It was amazing witnessing an unified society towards peace.” I loved every minute of it, especially the prayer time, and I’m learning a lot as well.”
