Schools within Malava Sub County have every reason to smile after a re known motor vehicle manufacturer opted to set up a digital resource center at one of the institution. Isuzu East Africa kept true its word to put up a storey building at Friends Malava primary that will encompass, a library, computer lab, play station and a driving school set to digitize not only the learners from within but also the community at large.
Addressing parents and other stakeholders during the laying of the foundation at the institution, the Programme officer and company secretary Anthony Musyoka stated that they were committed to fulfilling the company’s three pillars including education, environment and road safety as part of them giving back to the communities (CSR).
The resource center which is expected to be competed between 8 to 10 months will cost Ksh.8.5 Million with the motor experts standing in for the laying of the foundation base and equipping as the school management handles the construction exercise up to completion.
Already we have put up a library in Kayole, and Kisii and we will be traversing the country to do such projects when need arises and as for this school we have partnered with it since 2014 and initiated several projects within.
The school head teacher Caleb Sichenga said the school being a center of excellence needs such projects to reflect its image and pointed out that the resource center will go a long way of impacting positively on the school performance. He added that the project was one of its kind in the sub county and upon completion will attract more learners joining the school and elevating it to the next level academically.
“We are very thankful for Isuzu for coming here today to lay the foundation stone and it is on record that this is not the first project as they have also donated water tanks, learning materials among other assistive equipment to the special unit over the years.”
The manager said it was a big privilege for his school to be considered as a beneficiary considering there were many schools from within in need of such projects.
He pointed out that the foundation stone laid by the management of the motor company for the commencement of a resource center at the school was the
biggest milestone as it will not only assist the enlighten the livelihood of the pupils from the school but also others and community at large.
The parents association chairman Boniface Crispo, encouraged the youths to embrace the one year free driving lesson the company will introduce at the center as it was one way of them securing employment upon completion.
The vice board of management Rehab Vutiya applauded the company for continuing to stand with the school and called on other stakeholders to support the resource center project to completion as it was of great benefit to the community, schools and individuals as it will cater for training and offer employment opportunities to their children.
