Kakamega Deputy Governor H.E Hon. Ayub Savula today attended an ongoing two day seminar on Validation of Kakamega County Children Policy, aimed at promoting the rights and welfare of the children of Kakamega.

Speaking during the conference, the Deputy Governor said the Policy that intends to ensure children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care, and taking action to enable all children have the best life chances is well thought of, and will greatly supplement what the National government is doing under the Department of Children Services.

Formulation of the Policy commenced in 2013 and has had the National government and NGOs like World Vision, International Committee for the Development of Peoples (CISP) and Anglican Development Service (ADS) get involved fully.

The Policy has been spearheaded by the Ministry of Social Services, Youth, Sports and Culture.
