Road transport along the busy Kakamega- Kisumu Highway at Sigalagala was on Monday evening of 22 November 2021 interrupted for quite some time after students of Sigalagala National Polytechnic ran riot following the death of fellow students through a road accident.
According to the angry students, accidents had become perennial in the area and they alleged careless driving and lack ignorance of road signs by drivers. The fatal accident that claimed the life of two students who died on the spot leaving one other student nursing serious injuries.
Confirming the incident, Western Regional Traffic Commandant, Joseph Matiku said the public are not allowed to take the law in their own hands stating that drivers should take extra caution while navigating through our roads.
He further urged the students to stay calm as they carry out further investigations that will stop accidents in the area.
