Parents’ lack of responsibility and poverty are the major causes of early pregnancy among female teenagers in society. Lurambi MNA’s wife Mrs. Roselyne Khamala observes that parents’ lack of parental care and basic needs leads these teenagers to involve in irresponsible act thus the early pregnancies.

According to Mrs. Khamala it is the responsibility of parents, teachers and the society at large to ensure that the teenage girls and boys receive the basic needs so as not to fall prey to enticing men. This is an effort which she says in her capacity as the constituency’s head she is devising mechanism that will enable her solve.

Mrs. Khamala also warns parents against torturing children who are impregnated at young ages as they require moral, mental and physical support, saying that this is dangerous to the children’s health.

The sentiments were supported by Cheptais deputy county commissioner Samuel Towet who said that he was cooperating with other government leaders to increase awareness in the community in the area on the regarding early pregnancy.
