The 21st AMECEA Plenary Assembly officially commenced with a solemn Opening Mass at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA), Karen, Nairobi.
In his homily, Michael Cardinal Czerny called on Christians to become a transforming presence in the world by living the values of God’s Kingdom in their daily lives.
Reflecting on the parables of the mustard seed, the weeds and the wheat, and the yeast, the Cardinal reminded the faithful that God’s Kingdom often begins in small and humble ways but grows through faith, patience, and perseverance. He encouraged Christians not to lose hope in the face of challenges, emphasizing that even the smallest acts of love, justice, and faithful witness can bring about lasting transformation in society.
Cardinal Czerny urged the faithful to carry the Gospel into every sphere of life, becoming instruments of hope, peace, reconciliation, and renewal. He challenged the Church to remain steadfast in its mission of proclaiming Christ and serving humanity with compassion and courage.
The Opening Mass marked the beginning of the 21st AMECEA Plenary Assembly, bringing together bishops, clergy, religious, and lay faithful from across Eastern Africa to reflect on the Church’s mission and strengthen regional collaboration in evangelization.
