A total of 516,555 people from western region registered to receive National Identity cards since 2017 with over ten thousand identity cards uncollected in different offices.

Western regional officer in charge of register of persons, Samuel Sakala asserts that Kakamega County had largest number of those who send applications at 189,236, Busia County with the smallest number of 67,000 people.

Mr Sakala said that the process of registering of persons is ongoing and in the next three months they target to register a total of 140 thousand citizens in the entire western saying that they have established registration centres in the interior parts of the counties to ensure that they surpass the set target.
