Kenya Simba’s stormed into the 2023 rugby world cup Africa qualifiers final after edging out Algeria 36-33 in a tense semi-final at Stade Delort, Marseille in France Wednesday.
Kenya will meet Namibia in the final. The Simba’s touched down five tries, four conversions and a penalty against the lion cubs’ four tries, a penalty try and three conversions.
The winner of Sunday’s final between Kenya and Namibia will become the African champion, and book a slot in pool a of the rugby world cup as Africa 1 to battle it out with the hosts France, New Zealand, Italy and Uruguay.
The finalists will feature in the Repechage tournament to played later in France.

The director of public prosecutions (DPP) has withdrawn the case against former football kenya federation (FKF) president Nick Mwendwa.
Mwendwa, who was first arrested on November 14 last year before he was released and re-arrested again on charges of fraud, has been battling to clear his name in court through his lawyers erick Mutua and Charles Njenga.
He was kicked out of office with his entire national executive committee in November last year by sports cabinet secretary Amina Mohamed when she appointed a caretaker committee to run the affairs of the federation.
Kenya has since been suspended by FIFA for government interference.

The opening round of matches in the Elijah Lidonde memorial cup will now be staged at the Mumias sports complex on Saturday, the tournament organizers have confirmed.
Matches of this four-team tournament had originally been slated for the Bukhungu stadium in Kakamega town, but Alexander Muteshi, the four-team tournament’s patron, Wednesday confirmed logistical concerns led to the switch.
Football Kenya federation (FKF) premier league sides AFC leopards, coach-less Kakamega Homeboyz, Nzoia sugar and Vihiga bullets have confirmed participation in this two-day tournament which will be played in honor of Lidonde, a former Harambee stars player and coach.
