St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Lwanda Parish, Shihome in South Kabras, Malava Constituency on 17th December, 2023 played host to a momentous family service and fundraising event that brought together esteemed guests from various sectors. Dr. Inyangala seized the opportunity to call on leaders to proactively empower the less fortunate members of society. She emphasized the need for active involvement, urging leaders to initiate mechanisms that create opportunities and support the needy. Senator Khalwale echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the crucial role of elected MCAs in ensuring that government initiatives truly benefit the community.

The fundraising aspect of the event was an overwhelming success. Attendees, united in their vision to construct the church, generously contributed towards the noble cause. Rev Father Alex Obare, the host, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to all those who made valuable contributions, noting that the church’s construction would be carried out in phases.

With an impressive total of 2.7 million raised during the event, the St. Mary’s Catholic Church construction project could begin without delay. This substantial amount of funds provides a solid foundation to kickstart the project, bringing the community one step closer to fulfilling their aspiration of a fully functional church.

In a grand display of support, the chief guest, Hon Farouk Kibet, made a notable donation of 500,000 in cash during the event. Furthermore, he pledged an additional 500,000 to be deposited into the church’s account at a later date. This remarkable contribution signifies his unwavering commitment to the community and their spiritual development.

The success of this fundraising event is a testament to the unity, collaboration, and shared vision of the community members. St. Mary’s Catholic Church will continue to rally support from both local residents and well-wishers as they progress with their construction plans.

This memorable event not only brought the community together but also highlighted the significance of education and the responsibility of leaders in supporting the less privileged. The collective efforts of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, supported by influential personalities and esteemed guests, shine a beacon of hope for future endeavors within the region.

As the construction project moves forward, the community remains optimistic about the positive impact that St. Mary’s Catholic Church will have on their lives. The event served as a reminder of the power of unity and community involvement in creating lasting change.
