Faithfuls, residents and the entire Bungoma fraternity is mourning the death of Christ the King Cathedral  Fr Christopher Wanyonyi. Aged 63, Fr. Wanyonyi’s death is associated with covid 19 complications at a hospital in Eldoret on Sunday night.

Bungoma diocese apostolic administrator, Bishop Joseph Obanyi said Wanyonyi was admitted to hospital on July 1 with respiratory complications. He said he will remember Wanyonyi as a firm, no-nonsense priest who never hesitated to confront the ills in society and called out leaders to level up to their roles.

Addressing members of the press, the church members said they had been shocked by the demise and they will always remember him for the construction and successful completion of the Christ the King Cathedral. Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati said Bungoma has lost a fearless leader, a father figure to many in the church and beyond, a man dedicated and committed to serving God
